Harry Belafonte's artistic talent, good looks and honey-toned voice made him a star on stage, screen and vinyl. His masterful assimilation of folk, blues, jazz, and world beat rhythms allowed him to achieve a level of eminence and crossover popularity. In the mid-'60s, Belafonte's LP CALYPSO popularized the music of his Jamaican heritage and hit #1 on the charts. This quintessential edition presents two of his finest albums, both of which include songs from the West Indies: the aforementioned best-seller CALYPSO (1956), and the equally influential BELAFONTE SINGS OF THE CARIBBEAN (1957). Both records were originally released by RCA-Victor during Belafonte's most inspired years. They have been remastered and packaged together in this very special collector's edition, which also includes three bonus tracks from the same period that keep the Caribbean flavor.
