When 18-year-old Lawrence (John Luc) is caught cheating on his final year math exam, he fails to get into medical school and is banished to stay at his goofy Uncle's house for the summer. By chance he meets 'The Professor' (Timothy Spall), a colourful aging conman who invites Lawrence to join him and his sharp-tonged daughter Sarah (Lily Sullivan) on a road trip. As they make their way across the country (leaving suckers in their wake), Lawrence learns the ancient art of the swindle from the Professor and from Sarah he learns the truth about love.
