With new coach Trent Robinson at the helm and a flurry of off-season activity bringing a number of high-profile recruits to the club, the Roosters were expected to make an impact in 2013. But not even the most rusted-on Roosters fan could have predicted the near-perfect season that unfolded as the Tricolours rose to the pinnacle of the competition in emphatic style.

Guided around the park by the skilful halves pairing of Mitchell Pearce and new signing James Maloney, behind an intimidating forward pack led by Jared Waerea-Hargreaves, Boyd Cordner and the inimitable Sonny Bill Williams, and a talented backline featuring speed merchant Michael Jennings, young gun Roger Tuivasa-Sheck and veteran skipper Anthony Minichiello, the Roosters shook off a Round 1 loss to emerge as the competition frontrunners all year. They secured the Minor Premiership with a victory over arch rivals the Rabbitohs in the final round, earned a week off with a bruising win over the Sea Eagles in the Qualifying Final and demolished the Newcastle Knights in the Preliminary Final to book their place in the decider. And it was a triumph over the Sea Eagles in the Grand Final that delivered a thirteenth first grade Premiership to the famous club.
